Abstract

The public library, a fundamental institution for social transformation, has an obligation to civic education through access to information, dissemination of scientific knowledge, participation in various cultural events and the formation of critical and independent readers. The so-called reading promotion is one of the most established strategies with which the library assumes the task of reading education. In this sense, it is necessary to investigate, characterize, and further develop the reading and writing practices that are generated in their educational environments.
