Conceptualization and Foundation of the Documentary Information System (SID)

Abstract

This paper is a recapitulation of my proposal of the Documentary Information System (SID, for its initials in Spanish) as a central element of identification of librarianship, its premises, foundations and some of its theoretical consequences. For this purpose, a review is conducted of the epistemological references (particularly the Imre Lakatos references), based on which the epistemological status of the SID can be analyzed. The SID is then defined according to these epistemological references and, finally, a metatheoretical exploration of the SID is performed.
