Abstract

Use of technology in the archivist’s professional practice as a supporting tool in the development of their activities is a constant practice. However, this paper brings up the lack of knowledge and use of free software, proprietary software and open source, which help with the archival processes of historical files from the Federal District. In addition, this work provides a general context of free software and open source, proposing the use of platforms based on them. It also provides a general description of three file management systems.
