From Sumer to Gutenberg: Ancient and Medieval Library

Abstract

Preserving the knowledge and ways of culture, as well as having access to the information, is a task that has changed with time. The places where this activity takes place range from traditional to impressive buildings, which is why this process has led to strengthening libraries. The objective of the present article is to show a description of libraries, ranging from Ancient Times and their importance to civilizations, going through the Middle Age, known by the predominance of rural life, in order to have a historical reference with aims to questioning the intellectual aspects that influenced the creation of the printing press and its relationship to knowledge and the importance in the development of culture.
