Abstract

This paper examines the selection of serials through the application of Bradford’s Law to citations collected from an academic journal. These techniques are bibliometrically relevant to the selection of serials and help in the establishment of selection policies and strategies for collection development. The information identified thorough these techniques meets the criteria of authority, coverage, timeliness and relevance for the serials identified. Also fits the criteria for collection development of the specialist in a particular subject. In this case, 15 journals in librarianship with a capacity to attend the demand of researchers in this area were identified.
