Historical documents on colonial and especially Argentina
Abstract
The territory of present Republic of Argentina, was part of the Viceroyalty of Peru until the eighteenth century, wen by order of King Charles III was created the Viceroyalty of the Rio de la Plata. It will be kept that name until 25 May 1810, date on which begins the separation of the Spanish crown. This fact is known as the May Revolution, which this year is the bicentennial, marking the division of the history of Argentina in two well-defined periods, the colonial and the independent. The breakdown of political impact in supporting documentation, although some institutions will continue for some time still in effect. In this paper we refer especially to the colonial archives that now exist in Argentina and retain the record series.
