Abstract

This qualitative research is a first attempt to provide a vision of social reality of the library, ideas, importance, opinions, beliefs and attitudes that are built around them. Its aim is to understand the social representations that a group of young people have towards the profession. It will be carried out through individual interviews with ten young people culminating high school. We found some results as: there is no evidence of a concept of librarianship as a profession, the practice relates exclusively to the library and the book, the profession in unknown and, therefore, is not a career choice for young people.
