Characterization of the sector of libraries in Colombia: a comparative analysis of organizational, academic and technological environment

Abstract

The accomplishment of the study of characterization in libraries and files in Colombia allowed to improve the comprehension about the current situation of the sectors of public libraries and the trends of the sector and needs of training of the personnel of information linked to libraries and files of the country. In order to obtain a market analysis of libraries sector, the subsectors of university libraries, school libraries and public libraries were analyzed, which allowed having a general vision of the sector of libraries according with the objectives of the Sectorial Table of Libraries and Archives.
