DOCUMENT ORGANIZATION THROUGH CATALOGUING AND INFORMATION ANALYSIS: NORMATIVE AND TECHNOLOGICAL ENVIRONMENT

Abstract

The document handling inside an information unit is related to the cataloguing and information analysis. To understand the bases, historic, regulatory and technological development, underlying this handling, would help to strengthen and develop this practice, which has a starring role; because it helps people and entities effectively to face challenges proposed by the Information and Knowledge Society. As a consequence, without the intention of presenting exhaustive and detailed analysis, this article presents a general view regarding concepts, historic landmarks in cataloguing, national and international initiatives about regulations, technological implementation and challenges in the practice of cataloguing and document analysis.
