DIGITAL RESOURCES MANAGEMENT: DIGITAL LIBRARY

Abstract

This article presents the aspects to be considered when a digital library project is planned. It starts from the exposition made by several scholars regarding digital resources management within the context of a digital library, as well as the accumulated experience by specialized agencies and universities. Aspects such as the characteristics of a library thought for the future, the librarian’s role, the scope the concept of digital library may have and the considerations previous to its implementation, the criteria to develop digital resources collections, the principles to change the preservation format, the documentary organization, the users and finally the author rights are also considered in this article.
