Abstract

In order to contribute to the understanding of the impact that information systems have caused in the modern enterprises, the author tries to explain how the concept of ‘information management’ has been transformed in an organization based on new technologies and the problems that resulted from bad planning. This resulted in the lost of information, high maintenance costs, wasted time recovering information needed in the decision making processes and particularly complications among the different agents involved in the production, distribution, access, conservation and use of the information. Furthermore, there were problems found between the different environments using the information in an organization.
