Use of Paraphrase and Someone Else’s Discourse in the Writing of Scientific Papers

Abstract

In this paper it is analyzed, from the perspective of the information science, the conception of paraphrase and its use as a method of reproduction of someone else’s discourse in the consolidation of ours. Within its use, are identified the formal components and their conjugation with some of the rules used in the construction of bibliographical citation, the intention of the researcher in regard to its use, and the bond that relates it to the original text. It is also treated the ethic aspect, like a way to do the right thing and recognize the contributions made by others to our discourse. In this, documental type, research, we conclude how important is the paraphrase as a mean for the writing of scientific papers and the necessity of ensuring the respect to the copyright.
