Be a good professional in librarianship and archives

Abstract

The current paper is included within the proyect "Library Science as a profession in Colombia". The goal is analyze the attributes of a good professional in librarianship and Archives studies that undergraduates, graduates and employers recognize. To accomplish that, the Scale of Ethic Attitudes by Hirsch et al has been used, through a qualitative and quantitative methodology applied to multiple groups. In the conclusions, the attributes that define a good librarian are highlighted, such as knowledge, formation and preparation, self-identification as a librarian, professional and personal ethos and better service to the community.
