Conservation of Administrative Documents with Heritage Value, "Records of the Economic Council" of the Universidad Central “Marta Abreu” de Las Villas

Abstract

Storage and preservation of documents are issues of great importance in information institutions. The preservation of heritage library collections are the responsibility of information professionals working in any institution. Traditional organic documents, for their intrinsic characteristics are more vulnerable to deterioration and consequent to its total loss. The Universidad Central “Marta Abreu” de Las Villas keep documentation with heritage value like the collection Records Economic Council, which is in serious condition. In the study the documentary collection diagnosed using the combination of two methods to identify the condition. From the results is evidences the need to prioritize strategies for improving the conditions of conservation documentary in the institution, especially in the documents that have high heritage value. Is design a preventive action plan to prevent the accelerated deterioration of documents based on the results obtained and the characteristics of the documents studied.
