Abstract

What is coming are the results of an analysis of the main sources of information that provide relevant data on the approaches of electronic document management systems, as well as their trends and methodological perspectives are presented, with the purpose of organizing the existing material for a later systematization that leads to a better and deeper understanding of the information. Organizations whose systems do not have sufficient functionalities for document management risk losing evidence of their activity, which can lead to their inefficiency and even the inability to meet legal or accountability requirements and to the absence of corporate memory. Added to this, today institutions must "refresh" their technology about every 5 years and documents can have a life much longer than technological cycles. Electronic Document Management Systems should, at all times, ensure that the transfer is carried out without losing contextual information linked to documents and without this, high number of technology transfers having a severe impact on the integrity of the document information
